"The Original" Américas Post Oak
Voted “Best Appetizers” Houston Business Journal 2005
Américas, located in the Pavilion Mall, braves new territory with its adventurous “New World Cuisine” with a menu crafted from the foods and cooking techniques of North,Central and South America. Named Restaurant of the Year by Esquire magazine the year it opened in 1993, Américas evokes excitement from the very entry.
Designed by Chicago architect Jordan Mozer, it takes its cues from the roots of its cuisine. Américas is Mozer’s architectural interpretation of the images and cultures from these mystical lands. They are symbollically intertwined in the basket weave walls of the main dining room. Stone-like walls in the bar resemble mountains of Machu Picchu, all fixtures, including bronze door handles and hand-blown glass chandeliers, resembling rainforest flowers, are custom crafted in Mozer’s studio exclusively for Américas.
Currently, the Pavilion Mall is under construction, but Américas continues daily operations. Construction will be finalized in 2013.
